Welcome to Breakthrough Magnet II
Dear Parent or Guardian,
My name is Stephen Curti and it is a pleasure to be apart of the Breakthrough Team as your new Physical Education Teacher. It's important to me to teach your child skills through structured modules and group activities which will be applicable to their everyday lives to ensure an active and healthy future. I hope to create a fun and safe enviroment for your child to work and be successful in.
Students will need to be prepared and ready for the day they are scheduled to have Physical Education class. To ensure the safety of your child, it is very important that your child comes to Physical Education Class with sneakers. This will help prevent falls and injuries and make it easier for your child to move in the gym.
Physical Education Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to throw a ball with correct form and control while working in groups in throwing stations.
Students will be able to throw a football with control and accuracy to a parnter in the gym.
Students will be able to perform a successful lead pass to a teamate while working in the gym.
Connecticut Fitness Testing
Each year, students in 4th, 6th, and 8th grade must be tested on four different components of the CT Physical Fitness Assessment. Below is a link to a table that shows the standards students must meet to be classified in the "Health Fitness Zone" or "High Fitness Performance Zone":
Hartford Marathon Fit Kids Run
During the first two months of school, the Breakthrough Magnet II running club set a goal to accumlate mileage in order to reach a total of 12.1 miles. With their hard work and consistent effort to run each day, they were able to meet this goal and complete their final mile at Rentschler's Field in East Hartford. Below is a picture of our running club at Rentschler's Field and the fun they had. It was a great day and great accomplishment for these students.
